Have you organised this year's Maths Day yet? Contact House Of Maths now to arrange a school visit that will tick all the boxes: crammed full of number, shape, problem-solving and all aspects of maths, and fun enough to be talked about for weeks afterwards.

YOUR PRESENTER: All House Of Maths Assemblies, Workshops and Shows are presented in person by Barney Maunder-Taylor, a vibrant, dynamic entertainer whose love of maths is backed up by serious qualifications: he holds a double first in maths from Oxford University.

HOW DO I PLAN A DAY?: House Of Maths offers a choice of Shows (for large groups), workshops (for one class size at a time) and Assemblies – so each school visit is tailored to your school size. For larger schools, a popular format is three or four separate shows, each for one or two Year groups at a time (up to six class sizes at a time). For smaller schools you may prefer individual hands-on workshops, each for one class size at a time. You can choose a whole-school Assembly to start the day off, or include a special workshop for your G&T or Nurture group. Every visit is bespoke, and will be planned around your school size and requirements.

THE SHOWS: With separate shows for each Year group or two year groups, and with each show suitable for up to 6 or more class sizes at once, House Of Maths can cater for even large Primary and Middle Schools in just one day. The shows include music, custom maths props, and plenty of audience participation to engage each and every child. Find out why the Romans were rubbish at maths, what shape is a football, the tricks for multiplying huge numbers, and maths magic tricks to amaze your family. Barney will bring P.A. equipment, making each maths show suitable for even large audiences. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: could the school please provide one or two large tables, and projector. Barney will bring slides on a laptop ready to plug into your projector.

THE WORKSHOPS: every child will do the maths themselves, for the ultimate hands-on maths experience. Separate workshops for each year group, tailored to each class’s age and ability, from Year 1 through to Year 8. The children generally work in pairs, and the workshop can take place in either your Hall or in a classroom. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: the facility to show some slides, which I will bring on a memory stick ready to plug straight into your classroom’s computer. The day will run most smoothly if all workshops in each session (i.e. before morning break, after break but before lunch, after lunch) can take place in the same room, thank you.

PRICES: the price for a full day visit with breaks starts from £300 for schools in the Bournemouth / Poole area. Half day available on request, and please ask for a discount if you are a very small school.

AREAS COVERED: 100 mile radius from Bournemouth – so Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Sussex, Berkshire and most of the South.
