"Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the GO SKETCH workshops. We didn't want the sessions to end. The children were mesmerised by Emma. You could definitely tell she used to be a teacher as she had great classroom management and the activity was pitched perfectly for the age and interest of the children. I loved the wide selection of high quality resources Emma brought with her for us to use. Emma was very dedicated and spent a lot of time preparing for each session. Definitely would recommend GO SKETCH to other teachers for future art weeks."

Hi there!

My name is Emma and I have loved art from a very young age. I qualified as a primary teacher in 2006 and soon discovered that, due to timetable restraints, there was not enough time dedicated to the arts at school.

I believe that we should value art as a subject more as being creative makes us feel good, increases our self confidence and helps us think in different ways.

As an artist and a teacher, it was the logical choice to bring my two passions together to create Go Sketch Club!

I believe in teaching children that there is no such thing as 'good art' and 'bad art', only art we like and don't like. Everyone likes different art! We celebrate 'mistakes' as 'opportunities' within the creative process.

Go Sketch Club aims to develop young artists into self confident, imaginative and creative thinking adults of tomorrow.

Workshops on offer:

Cartooning

Create your own cartoon character! We learn about frameworks to structure your drawing, how to draw feelings through expressions and explore the visual language of cartoons to bring your character to life.

Comic Strips

This workshop is one of our most popular school workshops and will introduce you to the secrets of cartoonists! The pupils will create their own cartoon character with funny expressions and will then learn how to structure and create a funny comic strip with their very own character!

Graphic Novels

This workshop goes into more depth by looking at different styles within the graphic novel space. We look at panel layout, comic features, story planning and begin to draw our very own graphic novel.

Manga Portraits

This workshop explores the popular style of manga or anime. Manga is a Japanese cartoon based drawing style that is used to create graphic novels and comics in Japan. Anime is short for animation and uses this style from Japan in animated movies and series.

You will learn how to create your own Manga portrait in this popular school workshop.

Clay Sculpture

This is a great workshop if you have never worked with clay or have limited experience. We will learn handbuilding and joining techniques to create imaginative sculptures.

We will be using air-dry clay which you can then seal once dry. A messy and fun session for all!

We also tailor make any painting, drawing or sculpture for your topic!

We also run inset CPD training in drawing, painting, clay and using sketchbooks in the classroom.

For locations, we are based in Taunton, Somerset but happy to travel all over England.
